baxter manleigh park reception

I thought I would tell you about some of the things that have been going on here in the past couple of weeks.

The humans have been really busy getting Manleigh looking its best and getting it ready for a new arrival, I have heard talk of caravans and shepherds huts. I’m hoping that a shepherds hut doesn’t mean sheep as I will always have to be on a lead If we have sheep.

They have also been working on a new reception area, which now has our lovely logo on the front desk. Sadly the humans have put a gate in it so I can no longer get to all you lovely visitors when you arrive. I can still jump up and down though and they have very stupidly made the counter just low enough for me to get my paws on and look over the top (they think they are so clever, but once again Baxter is one step ahead).

I have also been busy researching some doggie friendly places to eat in the area.

Here are a few I have visited since my last blog:

  • Just 10 mins in the car from us is a very nice pub called The Sawmill, we went there for breakfast and I was made very welcome.
  • A little further away (about 30 mins) is The Red Barn at Woolacombe again a great place for breakfast after a good run on the beach.
  • In Combe Martin, the Harbour Deli serves lovely lunches with fab home made cakes and I get to go too!
  • Today the humans went to Bideford without me! I wasn’t very impressed especially as when they got home they said they could have taken me as they had found a great cafe for lunch called the Cafe Collective which would have welcomed me! But I did get to spend the day with my doggie friends, Queenie, Jean and Harriet.

Here are a few pictures of me and my recommendations that I thought you might enjoy.

I will be back soon with all the Christmas preparations that are going on here now. I have already been told off for taking a decoration off the tree and eating it and it’s still 2 weeks away!

Good luck to the new owners of Manleigh. I know you took over in October but I was a little slow to notice.
We had a brilliant fourteen years running the park and I sure you will have a wonderful time too. My dog Sally, now with the angels, was a massive part of our lives there and like Baxter, used to bound to Reception when the bell rang to greet the guests.
It looks like you’ve already made some nice improvements, it’s a lovely place to live and the view from the house is the best in the world!
Very, very fond memories of Combe Martin and all the lovely people who live there.
Best Wishes, Kate, Mark,Tom and Eve Hughes

      Hello Kate,
Thank you so much for your lovely message, I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply, I have to admit that I am just getting to grips with the blog and where and how to respond (what a dreadful admission). Steve and I have really enjoyed our first few months here and are looking forward to the new season. Baxter is slowly getting used to his new life but is still very excited by it all! We have found Combe Martin to be a very welcoming place and I agree that the views are beautiful. It is very easy to waste a lot of time just gazing at the ever changing view.
Come and say hello if you are ever back in Combe Martin.
      Best wishes
      Judith & Steve
